FREE Emergency Preparedness Conference For People with Disabilities
Update: February, 2010
Funded by the Florida Department of Health, the 2nd Annual SCIL Emergency Preparedness Conference will be held in Bradenton on Thursday, April 29, 2010, and is free and open to all. Although targeted towards people with disabilities, the Conference can help anyone to prepare for an emergency, from parents of small children through people in their golden years, including those in good health as well as those with disabling conditions. Learn what to do to survive and thrive in case an emergency strikes.
Please use the links below to view or download informational flyers. Feel free to e-mail, print, and redistribute these flyers.
If you cannot attend the conference, please download the The Planning Guide, available at http://www.doh.state.fl.us/hurricane/hurricaneinfoindex.html. The guide is available in English, Spanish, and Creole. There is a lot of other very good information available for downloading on the same web page.
Conference Overview:
The purposes of the Conference are:
- to connect seniors and people with disabilities to those professionals who have responsibility for the welfare of the residents of our counties in case of disaster;
- to have those attending the Conference learn about the ways they may secure not only their health and safety but also that of their loved ones in an emergency; and
- to give people an opportunity to ask the questions and get the answers that will help them to make personal survival plans for any emergency.
